The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal located in No.4 Danube close Maitama, Abuja sat on a new case filed against STANBIC IBTC BANK by Mr Clement Osuya due to the delayed payment of a processed transaction. The duo who appeared before the Tribunal on the 2/2/2023 was granted an extension of time by the presiding chairman.
The Defendant Mr Marcel Osigbemhe who was filing his defence out of time, moved his motion for extension of time which was granted by the tribunal to regularize his processes subject to the default payment of N5,000.
The Defence counsel pleaded and prayed the court to pay the sum of N5,000 as default payment. The claimant counsel, did not object to the application as to the sum for default payment, but left same to the discretion of the Honourable Tribunal.
The three-man panel presided by Barr. Chu’ma Mbonu alongside Mrs Sola Salako and Mr El Yakub granted the defendant motion for extension of time and the Defendants appeal for default payment of N5,000 was also granted.
The Tribunal however adjourned the sitting to the 15th of February 2023 to enable both parties exchange processes and resume for definite hearing.
