The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal is an independent adjudicative entity that was established with the mandate to adjudicate on all matters prohibited under the FCCPA Act.
The Tribunal is empowered to hear appeals or review any decision of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) taken in the course of the implementation of any of the provisions of the (FCCPC) as may be referred to it;
The Tribunal is empowered to hear appeals or review of any sector of specific regulatory authority in a regulated industry in respect of competition and consumer protection matters;
The Tribunal is empowered to issue such orders as may be required of it and make any ruling or such other orders as may be necessary or incidental to the performance of its functions under the (FCCPA).
The Tribunal through its mandate, and its consideration of matters in relations to prohibited conduct as enshrined in the FCCPA and fair business practice, plays significant role in upholding and preserving the principles of and welfare of the citizens as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999.
The Tribunal services has direct impact in ensuring a fair, competitive and safe market place, the protection of consumer rights and promotion of free and fair trade in the Nigerian Economy thus creating a conducive commercial environment for SMEs to compete fairly and favorably.
